| Housing AdaptationsPeople living with a disability may need to make minor or major alterations to their home to ensure ease of access and to enable them to use their home safely and independently. An occupational therapist, due to their expert knowledge and experience, is ideally placed to advise on these adapatations. Adaptations could include the installation of level access showers, stairlifts, accessible bedrooms and bathrooms, ramps and through floor lifts. At present grants are available form Local Authorities to assist with the cost of these works. > > > > more info on grants Funding authorities will often request the services of an occupational therapist to advise on how best to adapt a person' s home to meet their present and future needs. An Occupational Therapist' s Report may assist with the processing of the application and the cost of the report can be recouped from your local authority if your application is successful. A comprehensive Occupational Therapy Assessment will future proof your adapatations and prevent design flaws in your adaptations. |
